Malè - the center of Val di Sole Valley
Malè is the main town of the Val di Sole Valley and
counts about 2,200 inhabitants. Spending your holidays here, you
have the National Park Stelvio, the Brenta Dolomites and the ski
resorts of the region just around the corner.
Malè is a small but very vivid village. Ancient traditions meet
the lifestyle of the 21st century, old customs meet modern trends.
In 2008 Malè and some other villages in Val di Sole Valley were venues of the
UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. Downhill, mountain
bike and cross-country competitions were held here. Cyclists from
all over the world joined the races and gave the introspective
valley an international flair. The bikers and their fans got really
fascinated by the huge number of biking opportunities.
Malè and its surroundings is not only an ideal location
for mountain biking, but also for a lot of other sports.
Very popular are hiking and rafting in
summer and skiing and cross-country skiing in
winter. Close to Malè you find the skiing areas of
Marilleva-Folgarida and Madonna di Campiglio.
If you are more interested in culture than in
sports you will adore Malè's old town centre. Its highlights are
the Parish Church and the museum "Museo
Solandro". The museum shows life and traditions in Val di
Sole Valley across the ages through typical furniture, simple
everyday objects and traditional tools.
