Cles is Val di Non Valley's main town and it is situated in the middle of the National Park Stelvio. The National Park offers both 4,000 m high mountains as well as an appealing man-made country side with large apple fields in the valley below.
Cles in the Val di Non Valley counts about 7.000 inhabitants and is surrounded by sunny terraced hills. There the best apples of Trentino grow. They are known as "Melinda" apples. 5.000 apple farmers supply the Melinda farmer's cooperative with about 300.000 tons of apples per year. In the supermarket you can identify them as Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Renetta Canada.
Whoever is looking for culture and art is in the right place in Cles: the Palazzo Assessorile shows interesting archeological finds (Tavola Clesiana, 46 AD). Worth visiting is also the Castello di Cles. Spring is the best season to enjoy the beauty of Cles and its surroundings. In spring the apple trees are in flower, the temperatures are mild and the weather is sunny as a rule.
Perfect conditions to go hiking or biking in the surroundings of Cles: rewarding excursions can be made in the Brenta-Dolomites, the Ortler mountain range or around the Lago di Santa Giustina.
