The fixed-rope route Via Ferrata del Velo

For mountain lovers and for friends of adventure is the fixed-rope route via ferrata del Velo definitely the straight tip. If you like to go this route you must have already some experience of climbing, but the most important thing is that you have fun to go out in the nature.

It's better to do the fixed-rope route in summer, because in autumn the fog hinders the ascent.


Get to the starting point "Cima della Rosetta" (2,743 m) using the cable car from San Martino di Castrozza. There take path 702 and 715 and following the path you will pass the rock faces of Cima di Rola and Pala di San Martino. Don't worry, most of the trail is secured with fixed-rope routes. Arrived at the Passo di Ball Pass, go down to the Rifugio Pradidali Refuge. There take path 739 to reach the airy "Via Ferrata del Portón" fixed-rope route which leads you to Passo Portón. Following the trail you come to the beautiful but exposed "Via Ferrata del Velo" fixed-rope route. Climbing it you reach the Rifugio S.A.T. Velo della Madonna Refuge, where you can relax and be happy about your merit.

For the way back take trail 713 and then trail 724 following always the signposts to "San Martino di Castrozza.
