An excursion to Mount Schlernspitze

The Seiser Alm mountain pasture is the biggest mountain pasture in Europe and one of the most beautiful places in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. The best way to explore this magic countryside is by making an excursion. And one of the most rewarding ways is the hiking tour to the Mount Schlernspitze!

The excursion begins at the Völser Weiher Lake in the village Völs am Schlern. Following the path 1 you come to the Tuffalm mountain pasture. From there turn right to the Jungschlern area until you get to a signpost. There you have to turn left hand and follow the path to the Schlern canyon. Change path on the road junction and take the "Schäufele Trail" (no 3) for about 1 and a half hours. The trail leads you to the Schlernhaus Refuge. After another 20 minutes of hiking you will reach the peak of the Mount Schlernspitze. The view over the Seiser Alm mountain pasture and the mountains of Rosengarten, Latemar, Geißler, Sella and Marmolada is absolutely breathtaking!

To return to Völs am Schlern follow the path indicating "Sessel Schwaige" and then the "Prügel Trail". Like that you will reach the "Schäufele Trail". After one hour you will be back at the starting point of your excursion. Here you can jump into the refreshing waters of the Völser Weiher Lake - the ideal thing to do after a 7 hour hike!
