To Mount Astjoch - an excursion with view to Mt. Kronplatz

The Astjoch in Pustertal Valley is an easy-reachable panorama-mountain, which is particularly popular by locals.

After work in the evening or early in the morning: who wants to undertake a short hike and to enjoy a great panoramic view is right on Astjoch!

How to get there

On the way to Mount Astjoch
To reach Mount Astjoch you first have to drive with the car from St. Lorenzen to Montal and from there to Ellen. Arrived there follow the signposts to Astjoch (called Burgstall) and park your car in front of the last farm. Then take the forest track for about 30 m and turn to the left, following the path 67.

The path leads you through beautiful woods and meadows, from where you enjoy great views over Bruneck and the Pustertal Valley. On your hike you will reach half way the Walder Alm mountain pasture and after about 30 minutes the peak of Astjoch. Up there you have a 360° panoramic-view over the Dolomites, the Pustertal Valley and the mountains of the Zillertaler Alps. Great! For the ascent you need about 1,5 hours.

To get back to your starting point, follow the same steep path as to get there or follow the forest track which is less steep but longer.
