Sexten - The Border Route

A demanding trail at the border to Osttirol, a challenge for spirit and body: who wants to bike this trail, needs good stamina and very good technical skills!

The tour starts in Innichen (1,174 m) in Hochpustertal Valley. On the cycling run we bike to Sexten (1,310 m) and into the valley in direction of the Kreuzbergpass Pass. Arrived at a road junction we take the forest track 131, which leads us high above the Sexten Valley to Mount Helm and the Helm Refuge and then to the Hahnspiel Refuge.

Arrived there we follow trail 4 to the Sillianerhütte Refuge at 2,447 m above sea level. The refuge is situated in the Carnic Alps and it is known also as Viktor-Hinterberger Hut. From the Sillianherhütte Refuge we bike to the Leckfeldalm mountain pasture and on a wide forest track we come down to the valley bottom to Sillian (1,103 m). On the asphalted cycling run we will come back to our starting point Innichen.
