Anras

The idyllic village on the East Tyrolean side of the valley Pustertal, is the perfect destination for nature lovers and mountain sportsmen, searching for a quiet place to relax far from the crowds. The place is situated predominantly on the sunny slopes of the Pustertal and the valley floor along the river Drau.

 

Anras is located on ca. 1.261 metres above sea level and counts 1.297 residents. The sunny place is surrounded by the Defreggen Mountains and the foothills of the Dolomites of Lienz.
The mountain village with a long history and deeply rooted traditions is embedded in a wonderful alpine landscape and convinces with a wonderful view over the untouched mountains and the traditional worked farms. Through its location on the Pustertaler panorama road and the station of the Drautal railroad in Mittewald, Anras is easy to reach, but nevertheless far from transit traffic.
Ample hiking paths, the Drau bicycle route and a tennis court offer varied entertainment in the summertime. In the winter, some skiing areas are situated in the near environs. Furthermore there is a natural toboggan run, cross-country ski-runs and a curling lane in the local sports complex. Some restaurants and a supermarket provide guests and locals with everything they desire.
Culturally interested people can find five churches, a chapel and a historical "corn house". The Pfleggerichtshaus Castle Anras, hosts a museum with works from the well-known artist Paul Flora. For a change of scenery, you can visit the nearby city of Lienz with its ample shopping and dining possibilities.
