Brixen, the oldest town in South Tyrol
The oldest town in South Tyrol is Brixen. It is located
at the bank of the Rienza River and surrounded by chestnut woods,
orchards and vineyards.
In Brixen you feel like a time traveller. The monuments,
churches and streets take you on a trip through the last centuries!
By the way, Brixen is the city where the Pope spends his
summer holidays!
The cuisine in Brixen is very traditional. One
of those traditional meals is the "Törggelen". In autumn you can
eat the roasted chestnuts in many restaurants.
From the centre of Brixen, you can easily reach the skiing resort
Plose. From here you have a breathtaking view over the
city.
If you are looking for adrenaline you can do
paragliding. If, instead, you are more the relaxed
type, visit the Aquarena. It's a wellness center
with swimming-pools and saunas, whirlpools and a restaurant.
