Karneid Castle

Karneid Castle was built in the 13th century at the beginning of Eggental Valley in the Dolomites. The Castle can be visited only during guided tours, which take place every Friday in April, May, June, September and October.

The castle can be visited only on Friday in the above mentioned months, because it is inhabited. Christoph von Malaisé, the owner, lives in the medieval castle, which is ranked among the most beautiful castles in South Tyrol.

The castle Karneid boasts a picturesque interior courtyard, including staircases and balcony. In the chapel there are worth seeing frescoes. One of the frescoes shows Jesus sitting in the school: a really rare drawing!

In the Knights' Hall, however, a large collection of weapons can be seen and from the tower you will have an unexpected view 200 meters down into the Eggental Valley.
