Belluno a country immersed in the Dolomites

Belluno is a province in the North of the Veneto region. It borders the region of Trentino Alto Adige. In Belluno we find a lot of monuments and attractions that are really worth visiting!

From the South you enter the city through "Porta Rugo"; from the North through "Porta Dojona". It has its name because of the river that is nearby.

The Piazza del Duomo square and the cathedral were reconstructed in the 5th century. Inside the church you can admire beautiful paintings.

The "Piazza dei Martiri" and the "Piazza del Mercato" square are situated in the centre of the city. Here you can admire the characteristic arcades and Renaissance buildings. Another monument not to be missed is the current headquarter of the prefecture, the "Palazzo dei Rettori".

Art and history lovers should also visit the Auditorium. It is an old fortified palace that was built in 1664 by the College of Lawyers. Nowadays it inhabits a museum.

Very important for Belluno's the history are also the many fountains made out of traditional granite. About 270 of those are scattered all over the city.
