Ladin cuisine: simple tastes from Alta Badia

In Alta Badia and in the Ladin culture area the food is simple and traditional. The recipes are known for being really tasty.

The ingredients characterizing this cuisine are simple but very nutritious: milk, flour, potatoes and sausages.

Among the most popular and most appreciated dishes we have the barley soup with "turtres (tortelli) or the "cajinci" (known as "Schlutzkrapfen" in South Tyrol and as "ravioli with ricotta and spinach" in Italy). And finally the typical sweet desserts like "Krapfen" or "Strudel".

Meat is also a very important ingredient in the traditional dishes of the Ladin cuisine.

Also wild fruits like berries, raspberries and blueberries or mushrooms are a very important part. Depending on the season they can become real protagonists in the dishes and menus of the area, even in the best restaurants.
